BC Randonneurs News & Information Update BC Randonneurs News Update, February 20, 2021 2021 Ride Schedule Brevets: All the potential brevets of our 2021 Ride Season have been entered into the database schedule. However the event dates are currently shown as TBD to reflect the ride suspension in effect since Dec 8th 2020. Permanents: suspended until further notice. Cancelled Events: Spring Social + Roger Street Memorial Ride (early March) We are hopeful that we will have a restart opportunity later in the year to allow us to offer rides again, perhaps like our amended 2020 program. Volunteers are still needed! If you have route ideas and / or are interested to help out with registration, please contact your Regional Brevet Coordinator. Roger Street Award 2020 Nominations will close 1 March 2021. Send your recommendation, along with a brief explanation of why you think the volunteer is deserving, to the award committee chair Dave Macmurchie (dmacmurc@shawdotca). Pin / Medal Distribution 2020 Distribution of the 2020 brevet / volunteer pins for LM, SI & Peace regions should now be complete. The Island should be finished by 1 March. If you did not receive the pins you believe you were due, please contact: Vancouver Island Riders: Mark Payten (mpayten@shawdotca) Super Randonneur and other ACP medals are expected to arrive from France later this spring and will be distributed with the BC-12 pins, and possibly some 40,000 km pins and the Rambling Randonneur pins. Call for 2021 BC Randonneur Pin Design Submissions The BC Randonneurs are optimistic that an improved BC Pandemic situation later this year will allow us to ride brevets again, at least in some form. In accordance with our Club tradition (since 1985), we are calling for new pin designs to commemorate the 2021 Rando Season. We need designs for brevet series pins (200, 300, 400, 600, 1000) Please send your ideas to Pin Coordinator Karen Smith (ksmith222@shawdotca) by 1 March 2021. Some things to keep in mind when designing:
- The maximum length of any dimension of the pin should be 1.25 inches. Artwork can be larger but drawn to scale. Check out the link to our Pin Archive on the Rando website. Have a look, and get inspired... Karen is looking forward to the submissions. The Directors hope to select a design at the March Board meeting. 2021 Membership Application / Renewal We are upgrading our online membership registration process. Please check back next month Club Clothing Clothing coordinators Chris Cullum and John Oswald have some ideas to renew our club-branded clothing options. Stay tuned!
