Gerry Pareja was one of the original four Canadians at Paris Brest Paris (PBP) in 1979, and a prime mover in establishing randonneur cycling in British Columbia.
Family and friends gathered on October 15, 2026 for a memorial honouring Gerry. It was at the Celebration Hall at the Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver. There is an on-line obituary here –> Go. A screen-capture version is archived here –> Go.
The gallery below is made up of images from the memorial. The various parts of Gerry’s life were presented at stations around the assembly room. They are snapshot of Gerry’s life as a translator, bicycle enthusiast, core member of the Vancouver Bicycle Club and inspirational leader to randonneur cyclists in British Columbia in the 1980s.
