My fall calendar for 2026 was shaping up to be quite busy, with three events coinciding in a week:
- My friend Jim Spurr proposed doing a bike ride for World Rivers Day (the fourth Sunday of September).
- National Day for Truth and Reconciliation falls on September 30 every year, and I would like to continue doing a ride to visit a residential school site each year to observe the holiday.
- The BC Randonneurs Cycling Club, which hosts long-distance cycling events, had its Annual General Meeting scheduled on October 4.
When the planets align like that, it’s time to launch the Voyager! I incorporated all three events into a week-long bikepacking trip.
I’ve been live-blogging this trip on Komoot (no account needed to view) and Strava (which has better photos and videos).
