It was a fabulous day for an early season ride. We had 14 riders, a few from the interior but most from the Lower Mainland. It was really nice to share our great interior roads, trails, lakes and scenery with our Lower Mainland colleagues. More often we are lucky to have even five riders.
It was sunny and beautiful and just warm enough. RWGPS said it was about 1,800 meters, which I knew was way over. Riders’ devices said it was more like 1,200 meters. Even then riders said it was surprisingly hilly, which surprised me since much of it is on dead flat rail trails along the lakes.
The best part (for me) was hosting a big group of very experienced (older?) riders for a couple days and sharing and reliving many great experiences we have shared over the years in BC, Washington,Oregon, California, Arizona, Texas and other locales. We fondly remembered riding in the pouring rain in the middle of the night on multi day rides way more affectionately that makes any sense!! It was nice to have more time together than the quick early mornings that ride starts usually offer.
I hope that more riders will join us in the southern interior in the future. We often have just a one page route sheet for rides up to a thousand kilometres!! We have beautiful landscapes and way fewer cars.
Thanks to all who participated.
