Financials
Membership fees are starting to come in.
One term deposit came due, and was renewed. Interest paid into chequing account.
Colin talked with Gord Litster about the Vancouver 1000. The fee will be $295. Registration will open next week.
Jacques and Nigel were removed as signatories to the Van City account. Deirdre and Murray have been added.
Colin is trying to close the Paypal account. Recommend to people: do not use PayPal in the future.
Dug sent out an email about renewing insurance. Colin updated what we did last year to this year. Colin has sent this to Dug so he can send it to the insurer.
Colin changed the schedule in a couple of places. Mike will follow up on the dates, then Colin will send to France.
Discussion about giving refunds. It is easier to give a refund than credit for a future ride.
Regional Reports
Interior: Bob Goodison: No comments from Bob.
Lower Mainland: Still have a 1000 to schedule. Fleche for end May has been booked.
Peace: Wim Kok: No comments from Wim.
Island: Mark Payten: No comments from Mark. Dara noticed their calendar gives dates but few details. Some details were added today.
Route sheets: There was a meeting yesterday about route sheets. Stephen and Mike are going to meet to discuss methods for creating route sheets. Discussion about using Ride With GPS and account features. Ride With GPS clues are cumbersome and require clean up. Club has a subscription for Ride With GPS. Need to make club account more accessible as club account can be edited whereas a free account can’t. Mike will talk to Etienne about other possibilities
Action: Mike will create a guide for how to make a route sheet.
Schedule: want to give regional co-ordinators a push to get the information out.
Socials
March 7th, although Eric hasn’t updated the website yet.
Discussion about location: Moose Down Under or Mike and Anna’s house: Anna and Mike to host.
Action: Mike will talk to Eric to ask him to put social information on the website.
Super Rando pins have been received.
Challenges for growth
Other Randonneuring clubs
Vincent has been investigating other clubs. All other clubs in Canada are affiliated with their Cycling Association (CyclingBC equivalent)
Alberta is small: 11 members, a group that has been together for many years. Membership: pay to join Alberta Cycling, then each ride.
Ontario: Robert McLaurite, Martin Copper: club has been growing, about 200 people. Their challenge is keeping members. $40 membership and must be Ontario Cycling member. No charge for 600 or 1000. They tend to ride together (it’s flatter).
Quebec: new members can only do a ride with other riders, first 2 rides are free. Rides are no drop. The club is the organizer. Club oriented rides. Medals are $15, use the ACP medals. There seems to be a 100 km ride that is completely free, open to anyone.
Awards
Eric has come up with who receives which award.
Vincent didn’t succeed in contacting Karen Smith.
Mike and Vincent still have a meeting to arrange.
Website
Deirdre is trying to set up a meeting with Etienne, so we can go live.
Need the announcements and newsletter articles to be transported to the new website.
Newsletter: Vanessa is keen to do it. Deirdre to talk to Eric about having someone to work with, or to take it over, per his choice.
We can refund Vanessa’s membership fee, as she will need to sign up as a volunteer.
Will decide soon about ‘go live’ date.
Marketing
Action: Vincent will ask Peter if the business cards are finished.
Action Item Review
Colin has sent out an ‘Action Item Review’ link. Colin presenting the page:
‘Ride organizer checklist’ is up for review. Dara to send out link.
Went over ‘action item’ list.
Confirm dates for LM and SI 1000’s. Colin to update BCR and ACP websites.
Roundtable
Action: Mike to ask Murray and Dug: Do we need to protect ourselves from another organization using our name?
Next Meeting: 5th Mar 2026; 7:00 pm.
Adjournment: 8:30 pm
