The club would like to recognize and thank retiring Webmaster, Eric Fergusson, for his years of service on our website.
Despite having no prior technical background, he taught himself HTML to create and maintain the Randonneurs website back when the web was a new frontier of communications. His dedication is evident in his postings of both current news and his thorough research into the history of our sport, particularly Paris-Brest-Paris. The importance of the information gathered by Eric for the website was not limited to members of our club but also for clubs from around the world. Even without ever having a backup, he consistently posted current announcements and stories provided by members about their two-wheeled adventures.
Beyond technical maintenance, he has been a steward of our club’s legacy by:
– Conducting yearly reviews to recognize “iron butts,” “rookies,” and super randonneurs
– Maintaining records of trophy and award winners.
– Recording all club pins
– Maintaining the records for “permanents”
– Preserving our club’s overall history
His contributions have ensured that members feel welcomed and valued. We have been incredibly fortunate to have his commitment over the years.
Thank you Eric!
