Peace Region Update - Spring 2011
by Wim Kok

Peace Region Brevet Coordinator Wim Kok is reporting randonneur activity in Fort St John. The 100 and 150 km Populaires had a total of five finishers, and Erik Snucins completed the season openning 200 brevet "Signs of Spring" on April 23. Wim rode his own 200 in Alberta with the Edmonton group. The rider in the photo above is Jay Morrison. Wim had this to say about Jay:

Jay is a member of Canada's national long track speed skating team (not competing this season, but training at the Pomeroy Sports Centre in Fort St. John). He enjoys the non-competitive, yet goal setting aspect of randonneuring. His younger brother Denny is also on the national team, and a member of the gold medal squad (team pursuit) at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Both are from Fort St. John. Jay completed a number of 200 km distances in the past as a Blizzard Bicyling Club member. This led him to sign up this year.
