Here is a list from Harold looking at another sort of distance cycling near to his heart - the 24 hour time trial. The first part below, from his accompanying e mail message, helps set it up. Consistency In sorting through some rubbish I was about
to discard I came across this list I had typed up. I added some
Kms references as well as Christine Robert's record. For further
reference: the men's 1997 comp record is 525 miles (840kms) &
my best was 409.8 (659.5) in 1954. Lynne Taylor's (Walsall Roads CC) "24"record : Whereas sickness or injury causes most 24 riders to be DNF, Lynne just did a few less miles. Miles (kms) in Mersey Roads 24 hour time trial 1993 394.06 (634.16) (Christine Roberts set the competition record of 461.45 miles or 742.61 kms, in July 1993) 1994 418.20 (673.01) 1995 441.40 (710.35) 1996 438.97 (706.43) 1997 418.08 (672.82) 1998 427.61 (688.15) 1999 424.89 (683.78) 2000 433.68 (697.92) 2001 423.13 (680.94) 2002 438.04 (704.94) 2003 411.14 (661.65) 2004 443.14 (713.14) 2005 412.80 (664.32) 2006 434.41 (699.10) 2007 459.29 (739.14)
