2012 Lower Mainland Brevets
Northern Waters 200
June 9, 7 a.m.

Ride Organizer:
Bob Koen

Start/Finish: Port Coquitlam: Wave Coffee 2612 Shaughnessy Street (at McAllistery)

Note from Organizer Bob: The theme is water on the north shore. The route takes in Pitt river and Alouette river before reaching a spectacular first control at Pitt lake. It then passes Stave lake before reaching the second control at Cascade falls regional park. Then it swings by Hatzic lake and crosses the mighty Fraser river, entering farm country before stopping off for ice cream at the third control at the Birchwood dairy. Then it skirts Abbotsford but doesn't skirt Fort Langley before recrossing the Fraser and Pitt rivers on the way home.

The start is in PoCo at the Waves coffee shop. There is ample free parking a block away at the corner of Maple street and Elgin Ave. There are lots of great options for food after the ride, including Samz neighbourhood pub in the same block as the Waves coffee.

Come one, come all. It should be a spectacular ride.

Additional from Bob: I plan to put the second control on my ride at the lookout for Cascade falls. Its about a 5-10 minute hike up a trail. No sense in putting a control at a waterfall on a water themed ride if people don't actually see the waterfall! I will have someone in the parking lot to watch bikes.
