The control town of Mortagne au Perche holds
a unique place in the history of PBP. Being on the N12 it was
on the original route. When the the route moved away from the
N12, Mortagne was the only original control town to remain on
the route (other than Brest of course). This newspaper issue
was produced during PBP 1999 - riders were able to pick
it up on their way back through town on the return leg. (That's
how I got this - it sparked my attention because I saw a photo
of myself catnapping on a cafeteria table not too many hours
earlier. Very surreal.) EF |
