Lower Mainland Populaire Series
Members only 100 km rides monthly April to September
(Rides are capped at 100 participants)

The 100 km distance has been popular with club members, and we will in 2025 schedule a series of monthly 100 km populaires, from April to September. These will be run like traditional brevets with minimal or low support. The route map and cue sheet will be available on the ride’s event page. Registration will be on-line and the control card emailed to participants by the event organizer. Pins will not be awarded for completing the populaires, but the rides will count toward the BC PermaLight program announced earlier.

April 5 – Cherry Blossom 100: Event Page Event Organizers: Maurice & Catherine Lui
June 7 – Midsummer 100: Event Page Event Organizers: Vanessa Crowley
July 1 – Maple Leaf 158: Event Page Event Organizer: Maurice & Catherine Lui (Maybe 100 km route as well?)
August 9 – BC Spirit 120 Grando: Event Page Event Organizers: Karen Smith & Michel Richards. (Also in the Grando series.)
September 6 – John Hathaway Tribute 160: [Route TBA] Event organizer: Barry Monaghan. (John would have been 100 years old this year. Route not finalized, but will start and finish in Vancouver with a control at Whonock.)

Additionally, our club has initiated gravel populaires, which have successfully been conducted in the Vancouver Island region for the past couple of years. The Lower Mainland proved to be more challenging due to a lack of gravel roads suitable for randonneuring style bikes. But in 2025 we will schedule an introduction to gravel riding series of Grando events for club members.

July 5 – PoCo - Alouette 100 Grando: (Route - Coming Soon) Event organizer: Anna Bonga.
August 9 – BC Spirit 120 Grando: (Route - Coming Soon) Event Organizers: Karen Smith & Michel Richards. (Also part of Populaire Series)
September 13 – Cowichan Valley Daydream 200: (Route - Coming Soon) Event organizer: Mike Siemens

Call For Volunteers:
Events like these demand a lot of work on the part of our volunteers, and we can always use more. If you are able to volunteer to assist the event organizer, perhaps by staffing a control, your help will be gratefully welcomed. Please contact Mike Hagen, Lower Mainland Regional Coordinator, or any of the event organizers.
