Permanent #216
Saturday, Sept 28
200 km
11 hrs 56 min

Sept done!
Here’s my report and control card.

What a gorgeous fall day! Perfect for a 200! : )

But I had told myself that I wouldn't ride Vedder Mountain Rd again on a Saturday, especially on a long weekend, and here I was.... I shuffled the order of my ride so I could ride Vedder Mtn Rd first and get it over with before traffic really picked up. But it was already busy! Once I got into Yarrow, I decided to count the cars that were on the road with me. I counted vehicles travelling in both directions, as long as they were with me on the road.

-> Yarrow to Birchwood Dairy (16 km): just 11 vehicles

-> Birchwood to Sumas turnaround (7 km): 12 vehicles

-> Sumas to Birchwood (7 km): 17 vehicles

-> Through Yarrow (2 km); 55 vehicles!

-> Vedder Mountain Rd (6 km): 200 vehicles!

Starting on Ballam Rd, along the Fraser River, there were a lot of large trucks on the road, and a lot of crap on both the roads and in the air. I soon figured out that the farmers were cutting down their corn stalks and mulching it all up. Even with glasses on, I kept getting debris in my eyes...

I had no flats or mechanicals. : )

According to my Garmin, at 7.5 hrs, I had 1% remaining potential. And I had another 4.5 hrs to go.... uggh! I struggled in the wind at the end ...
