By "Transition day" I mean that you will need to carry all your gear to a new destination. On the non-transition days, you can travel light - you need only carry what you will need for the day. You can also take the opportunity to clean clothes that can be drying in a hotel room while you are riding. I've marked Day 4 as a transition day, but it is only partially so. The route to Gold River runs through Campbell River, and we had no trouble leaving surplus gear at our Campbell River hotel. So only the relatively flat first 117 km was full gear. Day 6 is also a transition day, but since it's the final day you might arrange to mail a package home, or abandon unneeded supplies. Seven Day Plan Day 5, above, is a long one. An alternative to the six day schedule would be to add an extra day, and distribute the distance from the final two days over three days. Here's what those three days would look like: |

I call Days 5 and 6 transition days, but you could leave gear at Woss on the way through to Port McNeil, and stuff could be left in Campbell River also. Four Day Plan The route can also be configured to be ridden over four days with three sleep stops... |
