The weather forecast could not have been better! It encouraged probably 60 folks to come out to Fort Langley early enough to partake of the various distance rides around the relatively quiet and scenic roads of east Langley and west Abbotsford.
At 13:00 most of them were back at the Bedford House lining up with $15 or $20 in their hands ready to go in and devour the excellent buffet that was, as usual, put on by the Bedford House. 71 members and friends sat down to enjoy the meal.
Some guests were introduced, Jaye Howarth from the Toronto Randonneurs (who are celebrating their 20th year, not 25th as was thought) has recently moved to Victoria. She had a swift ride from Paris to Brest and back on the back of the fastest mixed-tandem - 51 hours!
Also in attendance were Noel and Dee Simpson. Noel is the International Coorespondent for Audax UK and with his Brother living in Richmond it was about time he visited us.
We had a rare visit from Gerry Pareja. Better known currently as Cycling BC's data base manager he is also the Doyen of Canadian Ranodonneurs and it fell to him to propose a toast to the BC Randonneurs on the occasion of the completion of our 25th season.
The new executive were acclaimed and applauded;
President: Michel Richard
Vice-President: Lyle Beaulac
Secretary: Eric Fergusson
Treasurer: Wayne Harrington
