Stephen's Notes: The Island 600 is rapidly approaching. This year, we are reprising the “Renfrew Ramble Takes a Wrong Turn” from 2011, with a few small changes. The route follows the west coast of the Island to Port Renfrew, across to Lake Cowichan, through Chemainus, north to Courtenay, and then returning to Victoria. This ride has limited support, so no bag drop, and no pre-arranged hotel. The Courtenay control is at the 7 - 11 on Ryan Rd (at 380km) and there are several hotels between the control and the outskirts of town as you follow highway #19A south, such as Best Western, Holliday Inn, Travelodge.
The start will be at Tim Hortons at Ravine Way in Victoria at 6 am on Saturday, sign-in at 5:15. Longterm parking is available nearby at the Saanich Municipal Hall, and I can direct you when you arrive at the start.
