Perma-Light Bridal Falls - October
Chilliwack Bridal Falls, Return... Inaugural Perma-light !, 102km
Ride Date: October 30, 2024
by Karen Smith

Perma-light Bridal Falls
Oct 30, 2024
102.5 km (with detour)
5 hrs 49 min

It was an uneventful ride. Just how I like it.
Still, I started in the dark. Hey wait a minute, I thought a Perma-Light would mean not having to ride in the dark. But it was my choice...
In return I saw one of the most beautiful sunrises, ever!! So many vibrant pinks and oranges! Incredible! I wanted to stop and take a photo, but didn’t.

When I got to my turnaround at the Bridal Falls Esso, they were redoing the asphalt in their yard. So I didn’t even go in and I just turned around and kept riding...

I came across four single lane construction zones that slowed me down. At my last single lane zone, on Chilliwack Mtn Rd, the stoppage was taking too long, and I turned around and went back to Aiken, to then get onto Progress Way. It cost me almost 1.5 km, but I was moving.... : )

I don’t know if you want all of this for Perma-Lights. And I think I will reduce the number of controls!!
I kind of like having all of that information, so I can keep track of all my speeds on different segments, but it seems like overkill for a 100.

It sure felt nice to be done my ride by mid-day! So civilized. Kind of how riding a Trace felt, the first time.
Perma-Lights sure have removed the stress of having to ride a 200 through the winter with the shorter days and potential for black ice...
I hope it encourages more riders to do some winter riding whether it is a Permanent or a Perma-Light.

:)
Karen
